Deaf Empowerment Wants To Help You Improve Your Reading Skills

Deaf Empowerment (DE) wants to assist Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) people that are interested in learning to read/write the English language better. It is called “literacy” when you want to improve how to read/write better.

May be you want to understand and fill-out a job application better, sign/read more stories with your children, or read and understand the newspaper better. Whatever you want to read/write better, DE can assist you.

In early January 2003, Lori Fuller, Melanie Blechl, Lorinda Heft, and Jean Laux completed tutor (teacher) training with the Winnebago County Literacy Council (WCLC). The WCLC’s offices are located at the Oshkosh Public Library. DE and WCLC are working together to establish a joint literacy program.

If you are interested and want to read/write the English language better, please contact Melanie Blechl at:E-mail: Melanie@deafe.org, Phone/TTY: (920) 836-3306 (Use WI Relay to Leave Answering Machine Message) Or

Address:

3006 State Road 150
Neenah, WI 54956

Thank you to Curt Fuller and Melanie Blechl for providing interpreting services during the training sessions with WCLC!
