Literacy Program UpdateJoint Project between Deaf Empowerment and the WCLC
WHY: To improve English language literacy skills. Some example areas where Deaf Empowerment and the Winnebago County Literacy Council (WCLC) can assist:
Deaf Empowerment is working together with the WCLC. The WCLC is located at the Oshkosh Public Library; however, arrangements can be made to meet anywhere in the Fox Valley that is convenient for a tutor/student. Deaf Empowerment and WCLC’s common goals are to expand services to the adult D/HH population; recruit and train adult D/HH tutors to work with adult D/HH students; and assist in educating the community about D/HH literacy issues and Deaf culture.
