ListServ for Parents of D/HH Children Starts

In June the Wisconsin Educational Support Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing sponsored a conference for parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

The conference was well attended and has many valuable workshops for parents on issues ranging from communication choices, behavior challenges, and how to work with the school system on IEPs.

As a result of this conference, a group of parents have started a new ListServ for Wisconsin Parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children to communicate and share ideas.

A ListServ is an email list. When you send a message to one address, everyone who has subscribed to the list receives the message, and anyone can respond. It is sort of like a public bulletin board where you can post messages back and forth to people.

If you are interested in subscribing to the ListServ, go to http://groups.yahoo.com and sign up. The name of the group is: DeafHHChildParentNetworkWI and membership is free.

The online description of the group is: “This group is created to bring families of children who are Deaf and hard of hearing together in a supportive forum. The goal is to provide an environment that allows for exchange between parents; to provide opportunities for networking by community, by region and throughout the state of Wisconsin.”
