Fundraiser raised over a thousand dollarsPlans being made to repeat the success in July
Lori Prahl, a board member for Deaf Empowerment, proposed the idea after another group found it to be a successful experience. With Lori’s planning, it all went off without a hitch. Eighteen volunteers came to help pump gas, wash windows, and expose the community to a little bit of Deaf culture. This April 17 event was a huge success. Each location also had a “donation bottle” raising a total of $1,114.10. The money raised will be used to help Deaf Empowerment work towards meeting it’s goals of establishing much needed services in our service area. The success of the May event has prompted Lori Prahl to begin planning on the next gas station event July 10. This time our volunteers will show up in Hortonville Kwik Trip to again offer the community an old-fashion full-service gas station experience, hopefully in exchange for a bit of change as a donation to Deaf Empowerment.
