My World
A poem by Alicia Johnson
My world and your world, it is totally different.
Your world, I am lonely in your world.
My world, I am not lonely in my world.
My world is my world.
My world is my life.
My happiness is all in my world.
Your world is not my world because my world is deaf.
Your world should understand my world.
My world should understand your world.
My world lives in your world.
It would be totally nice if your world lived in my world.
Your world is full of hearing people with more than a million deaf people.
My world is full of deaf people with more than a million hearing people.
Both my world and your world are not perfect.
Your world's a hearing life.
My world's a deaf life.
I am not always fortunate and sometimes have hard time
communicating with your world.
In my world, I love communication very much.
I communicate and am very fortunate with my world.
I communicate using sign language and my hands are my voice to speak.
Being deaf, I am very grateful to be still able to hear with my eyes to
listen.
My world is all I have.
My world, it is a deaf world!
