We are off to a good start in the year 2005 as Deaf Empowerment now has an office! Thanks to Sign Language Associates, Inc. who is subleasing a room to us.

Deaf Empowerment’s new address is 1478 Kenwood Drive, Menasha, WI 54952. Our new phone number is (920) 886-7692 (TTY). If you’re ever going to be in the area, stop on by and visit us! Finding the office is easy, From Highway 441 get of on Highway 47 (Appleton Road) and turn south.  In just one block you turn right (west) onto Midway Road. Kenwood Center will be on your left.

Eventually we will have scheduled business hours, however, as of right now, our schedule varies from day-to-day depending on appointments.  If you want to stop in, it is best to call first or to make an appointment.

With the start of our office, we’ve also been able to start a lending library! Our library contains over 130 items all of which relate to Deafness or hearing loss. A complete list of materials that are available is available on our website. Take a look to see if there is something you might be interested in. If you do not have access to the internet you may also call Lori at the office for a list of titles. There are lots of books from sign language to Deaf culture. We are continuing to apply for grants and trying to find resources to expand our library, so please let us know if you know materials that would be good to add to our library.  The purpose of the library is for you to have a central location to go to that addresses specifically the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Community needs.
