ASL & Deaf Culture
Instruction
American Sign Language is one of the most important aspects that holds
together the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture. By educating the general
community on how to sign, we hope that D/HH people will feel more comfortable
within their larger community. For example, if a Deaf individual’s employer
requests it, Deaf Empowerment could provide training to other employees to
help break down the communication gap between the hearing and D/HH workers.
Additionally we will help increase awareness about Deaf Culture through
education programs and community outreach.
The current class starts April 11, 2007 and runs for twelve weeks, through June 27, 2007.
Classes will meet at the Fox Cities Rotary Multicultural Center, 128 N. Oneida Street, Appleton.
